Harney County Library provides a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. By entering this library, you are making a commitment to act courteously toward all other persons and act respectfully with regard to public property.

In addition, any violation of Federal, State, or local statutes will be regarded as a violation of library rules. Harney County Library reserves the right to eject or suspend library privileges of those individuals who violate library rules. In addition to sanctions imposed by the library, further sanctions may be pursued as determined by law. Appeals of disciplinary actions imposed may be made to the Library Director.

While on library property, please do:
- Treat others in the library with courtesy and respect.
- Ask for help when you need it.
- Wear shoes, shirt and other clothing as needed to minimize direct skin contact with furniture.
- Keep your personal property with you at all times. Make sure your belongings do not block foot traffic.
- Use a covered container for drinks.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Keep your activities, including conversations and use of personal devices, from disturbing others.
- Obey all federal, state, and local laws.
Please do not:
- Destroy, deface, or abuse library property.
- Smoke in the library (includes e-cigarettes and marijuana) or within 25 feet of the building.
- Consume or be under the influence of any controlled or intoxicating substance except as allowed at a library-approved event.
- Operate skateboards, skates, rollerblades, or bicycles on library property.
- Sleep in the library.
- Engage in, or simulate, sexually explicit conduct or display sexually explicit materials.
- Produce a disruptive scent from strong body odor, personal care product, or personal property.
- Panhandle or solicit for sales or contributions unless authorized by the library director.
- Conduct surveys or distribute printed or other material without staff approval.
- Bring animals into the library that are not constrained or personally carried at all times.
- Leave animals in areas patrons must use to enter and exit the library.
