DISPLAY POLICY
Harney County Library limits the use of its display space to library-produced displays whose purpose is to reflect topics of interest or potential interest to library visitors and highlight the library’s collection. Displays are planned, organized, and/or implemented by library staff. Library volunteers may also participate in the creation of these displays under the supervision of a staff member. Library staff may borrow items from local organizations, groups, or businesses to use in the display and may credit the lender. No library space is available for unsolicited exhibits or displays.
The Library will strive to include a wide spectrum of topics that appeal to a range of ages, interests, and information needs, as well as being consistent with the Library’s mission. These displays should not exclude topics, books, media, and other resources solely because they may be considered to be controversial; staff will also strive to curate materials to reflect all viewpoints of a subject wherever appropriate. Suggestions can be accepted by staff for display topics, but the topic and material selection is at the discretion of the library staff, and ultimately, the Library Director.
