The Harney County Library has approximately 28,000 items in its collection. Formats include books, audiobooks, videotapes and DVDs, magazines, reference books, and a non-circulating collection in the Western History Room. Public computers are available to patrons and visitors for one hour of use per day.

A collection of 125 juried poems,  essays, and short stories by selected writers throughout the region,  including Harney County writers.

A thought-provoking book on the art of creative writing, intended to inspire persons of all ages to write from the experience of place.

  Area creative writing instructor and published poet/essayist Rob Whitbeck leads readers and writers on an explorative journey through the art of writing as it applies to the northern West.

 $9.95

Proceeds from both books will be placed in a special fund by LEO to pay for community programs at libraries across the region.

LEO serves public libraries in Baker, Crook, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco and Wheeler counties.

 

Images of America; Harney CountyIMAGES OF AMERICA: HARNEY COUNTY is the newest book about  Harney County history. This book, produced by staff of the Claire McGill Luce Western History Room,  features photos from the combined collections of the Claire McGill Luce Western History Room and the Harney County Historical Museum along with photos from the private collections of families throughout the county. A portion of the proceeds from this book are contributed to the Harney County Library Foundation.
