To date, of the 12,700+ entries in the death notice/obituary index more than 8,270 images have been added to our digital obituary collection. Microfilmed issues of the Harney County newspapers are available for public use in the Western History Room. Contact us to request a digital or hard copy of any obituary, death notice, birth notice or marriage notice, or to request a search for a name not listed.

- Individual & Family History Index: A collection of individual and family history files includes diaries, journals, personal life stories, news articles, and genealogical information about residents of Harney County, past and present. Files are available for public access inside the Western History Room. Select items are viewable online.
- Oral History Interview Index: Alphabetical listing of people interviewed for the Harney County Oral History program. Interview transcripts are available in the file cabinets in front of the Western History Room door or as digital files which can be viewed online by clicking the transcript link. Original audio/video recordings and detailed subject indexes are available inside the Western History Room. Contact us for more information.
- Local burial listings are available in the "Pieces of the Past" book series covering the Burns Cemetery and all the rural Harney County cemeteries. These books are available for library use only in the Western History Room and are also available for checkout.
